Ans- Shree lives in a house in a small town called Katpadi Junction. Amma works in a jewellery shop. Appa works as a taxi driver. Shree’s aunt also lives with them. Shree calls her Athhai.

b) What does Shree use the computer for?

Ans- The computer is Shree’s friend. She uses it to find information, play games or chat with her school friends on FriendsNet, a social networking website which she joined on her thirteenth birthday.

c) How did Athhai protect Shree from the man at the railway station?

Ans-   When the man approached Shree at the railway station, Athhai quickly came with the station master and hit him with her handbag. Then she threatened him not to come near her niece.

d) How did the police catch the man? What other information did they find out about him?

Ans- A cyber-crime police officer checked the data in Shree’s computer. Within hours, the police found the man who had pretended to be Chaitra. They also found that he had been trying to befriend many young girls and boys through social media.

a) What did the man do in order to trick Shree?


Ans-  The man befriended Shree as Chaitra on FriendsNet. He used the film actress, Madhoo’s old photograph to pretend that he was the same age as Shree. He told her that he studied in a school near hers. He asked her to send him a selfie and her phone number. When he realised that Shree did not have a camera phone, he used that opportunity to trick Shree into meeting him by telling her that he would give her his old camera phone. When Shree complimented on the earrings on his profile picture and asked him to wear them the next day, he agreed only if she would come alone to the railway station.

b) What made Shree realise that Chaitra was lying? What did Shree do to find out if Chaitra was lying?

Ans- Chaitra told Shree that she studied in the school close to Shree’s school. But when Shree looked around for a school near her school, she didn’t find any other school. Moreover, when Athhai looked at Chaitra’s profile picture, she told Shree that the picture was of the actress Madhoo when she was in school. When Shree asked Chaitra her age, she lied to her and said that she was thirteen. That’s when Shree wondered if Chaitra was using somebody else’s picture. To find out if Chaitra was lying, Shree confided in Athhai who helped her make a secret plan to find out if Chaitra was honest or not.
